I couldn't believe my eyes!

Remember the “Big Ask?” Let me tell you this story.

The gentleman that came to deliver the check at our house was from the foundation. We went out back of my house and sat in our Adirondack chairs in front of the cowboy fire pit grill.

After a few minutes of conversation, he removed the check from the envelope and handed both to me. I braced myself inside as my eyes fell on the amount...

Back in December I had met with the gentleman over lunch and was quite nervous.

I had been praying along with our Congolese brothers and sisters for our “Big Ask.” For months, I paced in my office praying to God for help. I found myself face to face with this gentleman over lunch. I didn’t want to ruin our relationship by asking such a large number. He said, “Let God lead and write down what you need.” A month later the foundation’s board met and decided what amounts to give which entities.

... I braced myself thinking the amount will be $5,000, perhaps $10,000. In my heart of hearts I was hoping for $15,000. My eyes fell on the amount of $30,000. I stared at the amount for a few moments. The gentleman said he was sorry that the foundation couldn’t meet the entire amount of $37,000.

I was so excited. I thanked him profusely. What a miracle! Meanwhile, tears had welled up in the gentleman’s eyes. He said that it was such a joy that both he and the foundation had a part in this miracle.

With this generous gift, 2/3 of our students will soon be sitting on their new bench desks rather than on mats and sitting in the newest academy building.

Romans 12:15a “Rejoice with them that do rejoice”

One church in Pennsylvania gave a thousand dollars for the bench desks along with a couple of individuals.

Another church in central Pennsylvania gave $500 for one of our churches which was used to make bricks for their new church building.

$50 per Bench Desk. Would you give to this project ?
